Pattaya is known around the world as an exciting and entertaining paradise situated on the exotic Gulf of Thailand. Many people visit Pattaya to take advantage of the great tropical climate and amazing beaches.
Here at Pattaya Events we are dedicated to highlighting the marvelous events and activities that are available in Pattaya. And this blog is dedicated to the auspicious Honda LPGA golf tournament that has made its home in Pattaya over the last few years.
The Honda LPGA first came to Thailand in 2006, and since then the tournament has been seen as one of Thailand’s flagship golf events. And there is no doubt the hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions of Pattaya are some of the reasons that the event came to Pattaya in the first instance.
The Honda LPGA comes to Pattaya every year and it provides an opportunity for sixty of the world’s most talented female golfers to come together and compete in fierce competition.
A purse of over UDS$ 1.6 million is available to competitors which brings female golfers from all over the world to Pattaya to compete. This year big names of the sport such as May Ariya Jutanugarn and Mo Moriya Jutanuharn are due to join the tournament competitor list.
The Honda LPGA now offers the greatest prize money for any professional female golfers in the whole of Thailand. The tournament is organised and promoted by the highly successful company, IMG.
The Honda LPGA 2019 is to take place during the 21st of February 2019 to the 24th of February. And once again the auspicious event will be held at the challenging Old Course at the Siam Country Club.
Besides watching some of the finest female golfers in the world compete, visitors can take advantage of the highly popular Festival Village, which includes numerous places to relax as well as exhibitors and stalls selling golfing equipment.
The Village also includes numerous food stalls with cuisine represented from around the whole world, including of course the very best Thai dishes.
Siam Country Club
The location in East Pattaya of the Siam Country Club is one of the Eastern Seaboard’s most prestigious country clubs that offers three great golf courses as well as many other leisure-related sporting activities.
Golf is not the only facility open to the visitor who arrives at Siam Country Club. The superb clubhouse dates back to 1970 although there have been many upgrades and improvements. Sitting up high the clubhouse overlooks the Old Course and the surrounding valley.
The Clubhouse is as special as the course itself and offers top class amenities including a first class restaurant and changing facilities.
The Old Course
Siam Country Club Old Course is one of the most famous in Thailand if not the whole of Asia. When it opened in 1970 it was the first privately owned golf courses/clubs in the Kingdom.
It was originally designed by Japanese golf architect Ichisuke Izumi and featured overhanging trees and contoured greens. Six years later the course closed for a total overhaul by the renowned American architects Brian Curley and Lee Schmidt.
Since then the Siam Country Club Old Course has been the home for the prestigious US LPGA Honda Classic, and the 7,162-yard course is now recognised as one of Asia’s best.
Situated in a superb location, a huge golden Buddha watches over the picturesque course with its sculptured bushes and glistening lakes.
If you wish to watch top class golf in one of the most beautiful locations then why not head down to the Honda LPGA Thailand tournament this February.
